Autumn is the perfect season to take a walk on the dark side, etc’s Cara Houchen takes a look at some of the devilish trends guaranteed to heat up your wardrobe

This time of year is one of my favourite fashion seasons, I love nothing more than pulling out my knitwear and putting on my boots ready to take on the autumn chill.
Dark shades are never far away from the A/W collections and this year is no exception.
With leather, studded embellishments and lashings of lace taking centre stage it’s time to embrace Gothic glamour … with a furry edge.

The brilliant thing about this season’s trends is if you don’t have the money to buy designer there are some fabulous high street look-alikes that will give you the style you want without being too hard on your bank account.
But when money is no object this Christopher Kane leather trim dress is a must for me. Leather can be difficult to get right  – too much and you start to look like a dominatrix, or if worn with big hair and stilettoes ‘Grease’ could spring to mind.

This dress has just the right amount to receive a nod from the fashionistas and approval from the youngsters  – the last thing you want to be is the embarrassing mum!
Footwear is a fascination of mine and I’m often blinded by the designer rather than the design, which can often be impractical for day time wear, but during this season, flats are fabulous.
I love a pair of knee high boots, especially with a hidden fur lining so they are super cosy. If flats aren’t your thing these shoe boots from the Alexander McQueen collection are a lovely alternative.

Add to them a luscious pair of long leather gloves and fabulous fur and you’ve got autumn all sewn up. This particular fur is real rabbit but if you are not into real fur you can get some excellent copies.
Make sure you complete your look with some head turning accessories, this Christian Louboutin clutch is covered in studs and leopard print – what more could a girl want? Team this with a stunning Fernando Jorge piece and you’ll be glittering in the autumn sun.
